Thai AirAsia X Spreads Wings to Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka and Sapporo!
BANGKOK, 22 June, 2022 - Thai AirAsia X (flight code XJ) reaffirms itself as the top choice for flights to South Korea and Japan with the announcement of four routes connecting Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) to Seoul in South Korea and Tokyo, Osaka and Sapporo in Japan. The carrier plans to continuously increase the frequencies of all routes up to daily flights by this October, targeting for passenger traffic after returning to service this year at 300,000 pax with an average load factor at 85%, with a fleet of five Airbus A330s by the end of the year.
Mr. Patima Jeerapaet, CEO of Thai AirAsia X said, “With the improving COVID-19 situation, the airline has been able to continually reopen routes. The Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi)-Seoul route has proven to be hugely popular with 95 percent of available seats pre-booked for June. Flights to Japan are next to resume in accordance with the Japanese government’s travel policy, with direct flights to Tokyo starting this July and followed Osaka and Sapporo in October 2022.”
He added, “We are increasing flight frequencies for both our Seoul and Japan routes in keeping with increasing demand spurred by the revival of tourism regionally and beyond. By this October, we will be flying daily from Suvarnabhumi to Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka and flying to Sapporo four times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This will give passengers a convenient selection of departure dates. We are also working closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to stage press announcements and meetings with the media and sales agents, both in Seoul and Japan, to attract foreign travelers to Thailand and to connect throughout our domestic network, providing a further boost for economic recovery on both ends.”
Mr. Patima reiterated that Thai AirAsia X’s rehabilitation plan is progressing smoothly and will allow it to improve operational management, ensuring an efficient, world class service to its guests. Thai AirAsia X expects to close the year with 300,000 passengers for the remaining 6 months of 2022, contributing to an average load factor of over 85 percent. Thai AirAsia X is expected to operate with a fleet of 5 airplanes by the end of the year.
