AirAsia's maiden flight from Beijing to Bangkok brimming with excited travelers Guests can continue from Bangkok to secondary cities via AirAsia's widest network
BANGKOK, 2 July 2024 - AirAsia is strengthening its position as the preferred airline for flights between Thailand and China with the launching of Beijing (Daxing) to Bangkok (Don Mueang) flights.
The inaugural Bangkok-Beijing flight took off 1 July 2024, returning to Bangkok on 2 July 2024, bringing travelers from China to the many attractions of Bangkok and to be further connected to many top Thai destinations like Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Phuket, Hat Yai and Krabi using the AirAsia network, which offers the most domestic routes and the highest flight frequencies.
Don Mueang Airport held a welcome ceremony to mark the arrival of the first flight from Beijing full of excited Chinese travelers who made up 92 percent of the flight load.
Mr. Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, said: “The introduction of the new connection will help boost tourist arrivals in Thailand, especially as the flight was timed to arrive in Bangkok at 9.45 am, allowing for immediate travel to the tourism, shopping and dining places the capital city has to offer. At the same time, the route is perfect for tourists looking to continue to other Thai cities and provinces as AirAsia offers the largest network of domestic routes with the highest frequency of flights.
"Adding the new Bangkok-Beijing route reaffirms AirAsia's market leadership for direct flights between Thailand and China. Beijing is a city we have been looking forward to serving and we saw a wonderful response to our first flight on the route," Mr. Santisuk said.
Thai AirAsia now operates flights from Bangkok to 12 destinations in China, flying to Kunming, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Xi'an, Shanghai and the latest addition Beijing, offering a total 115 flights a week.
