AirAsia X commemorates its maiden flight to Changsha, China’s Top Tourist City

SEPANG, 5 July 2024 - AirAsia X today commemorates the resumption of its flights from Kuala Lumpur to Changsha, the capital and largest city of Hunan Province in China. 

The city has been recognised as one of China's top tourist destinations, frequently chosen by both foreign and local visitors. Known for its vibrant culture and rich history, it is also a popular destination for night tourism in the region.

The inaugural flight departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 5:25PM and landed safely at Changsha Huanghua International Airport at 10:30PM on 5 July 2024. Guests travelling on D7 352 were warmly sent off by Dato’ Fam Lee Ee, Chairman of AirAsia X, Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X and fellow Allstars.

The maiden flight had a passenger load factor of more than 70 per cent, with more than 40 per cent being Chinese tourists and more than 30 per cent being Malaysians. 

AirAsia Group flies to a total of 17 destinations in China. AirAsia X (flight code D7) operates four weekly flights to Changsha and this marks its sixth destination in the region from Kuala Lumpur, following Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing (Daxing), Chengdu (Tianfu), and Xi’an, further reinforcing AirAsia’s status as the largest foreign low-cost carrier in the region.
