BANGKOK - AirAsia is coordinating with the Mirror Foundation to provide 10 return Don Mueang-Chiang Rai tickets each day at no cost to support the flood relief effort taking place for Chiang Rai this 15-31 October, 2024, providing a total 170 seats across the 17 days so that volunteers may aid in the clean-up of flood victims in Mae Sai district of Chiang Rai.

Mr. Chatupong Hongwiset, Head of Ramp and Ground Service Equipment for Thai AirAsia, indicated “Thai AirAsia has seized many opportunities to provide help to those impacted by recent flooding. The airline has assisted passengers whose travel plans were disrupted, coordinated with different agencies, and transported necessities to Chiang Rai and other provinces affected by the disaster. After discussing the situation with the Mirror Foundation, which has also been working to provide relief, Thai AirAsia saw a need to support the travel of volunteers to Mae Sai in Chiang Rai, one of the worst hit areas. It is hoped that by assisting in the travel of volunteers and residents of the landslide hit communities, the airline can speed up the normalisation of the situation for all of Chiang Rai.”

“We are proud to be using the strengths of AirAsia, particularly our five  daily flights from Don Mueang to Chiang Rai, to support this rehabilitation. We thank the Mirror Foundation and all the volunteers while encouraging everyone in Chiang Rai and the other affected provinces to continue their restoration” Mr. Chatupong said.

About the Mirror Foundation

The Mirror Foundation is a public-benefit organization established in 1991, working to drive social change across various issues through 20 projects across 4 offices, including in Chiang Rai, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Ubon Ratchathani. One of the key initiatives of the foundation is the People's Disaster Management Project. When disasters occur in the northern region and cause significant damage to communities, the Mirror Foundation establishes Volunteer Home Cleaning Centers in Chiang Rai, Nan, and Chiang Mai. This project focuses on rehabilitation efforts following floods, with the mission of mobilizing volunteers to assist vulnerable groups in cleaning their homes. These vulnerable groups include elderly individuals living alone, bedridden patients, single mothers raising young children, and daily wage workers who would face long-term income loss if they had to spend several days cleaning their homes. Additionally, the foundation distributes essential supplies, including items needed to re-enter their homes, aiming to help restore their lives to normalcy as quickly as possible.
