BigPay Expands to Thailand, Elevating Seamless Travel and Unlocking New Financial Possibilities

BANGKOK, 18 JULY 2024- BigPay is thrilled to announce its expansion into Thailand, bringing a revolutionary financial solution to travellers and residents alike. BigPay offers everything from saving for trips to making seamless payments worldwide and real-time currency exchange with competitive rates.

The latest e-wallet in town was launched by Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A and Executive Chairman of MOVE Digital, alongside Zubin Rada Krishnan, Group CEO of BigPay, Apirudee Prachyaset, Country Head of BigPay Thailand and Nadia Omer, CEO of AirAsia MOVE.

BigPay is not just an e-wallet, it's a complete financial tool that helps you manage your finances better - equipped with a Visa Virtual card and a Physical Visa Platinum Prepaid card available on demand. Users can sign up digitally and start enjoying benefits such as the ability to pay at more than 130 million merchant locations globally both online and in stores as well as withdraw cash from overseas ATM. Additional features like ‘Stash’ and ‘Roundup’ help users save effortlessly, while the Spending Analytics feature offers insightful spending insights.

New BigPay users can also enjoy up to 555 baht in discounts and cashbacks when they book AirAsia flights and earn up to 4x AirAsia points for various deals, and look forward to more rewards and benefits especially when used with the AirAsia MOVE app. In addition, BigPay users can redeem a special discount of 388 baht when they purchase the Asean Explorer Pass by AirAsia MOVE, where they can redeem AirAsia flights across Asean for a full year.

Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A and Executive Chairman of MOVE Digital commented on BigPay’s expansion into Thailand, "We’re very happy for BigPay to finally arrive in Thailand, as it broadens the ecosystem that we have and offers customers a more wholesome experience with payment options and financial services that enable seamless travel. We want BigPay to be a catalyst for financial inclusion and economic growth in Thailand where we help bridge the gap for underbanked communities. We look forward to serving the people of Thailand as a brand new financial services provider in the market, and would like to thank all the key stakeholders in making this happen, as well as our partner Visa.”

Apirudee Prachyaset, Country Head of BigPay Thailand added, "We are excited to introduce BigPay to Thai users, offering a unique travel payment proposition that integrates seamlessly with the AirAsia MOVE ecosystem. Our BigPay Visa Platinum Prepaid card not only provides special discounts and AirAsia points but also exclusive travel and shopping experiences worldwide. Features like Stash, Roundup, and Analytics are designed to improve financial wellbeing, helping Thai users develop healthy financial habits and save effortlessly for their travels and future goals."

Punnamas Vichitkulwongsa, Country Manager for Visa Thailand said, “We are thrilled to partner with BigPay in uplifting the payment experience of Thai digital consumers, who may use it seamlessly whether they are on the road, for their everyday spending, or for online purchases.  The launch comes at a time when Thai travellers are eager to explore the world, with an average of 2.4 international trips planned this year[1]. This also aligns with the growing cashless trends in the country, as our recent study[2] shows, eight in 10 consumers (81%) have attempted to go cashless with the Gen-Z [age 18 to 23 years] segment leading this shift. We believe the speed, convenience, and security that are synonymous with digital payments, together with a suite of privileges, will make BigPay eWallet a preferred choice for our cardholders.”
