airasia academy and Airbus partner to empower more women with #RatuTech
KUALA LUMPUR, 13 September 2022 - AirAsia expands its partnership with Airbus to empower more underrepresented women in the digital sphere and increase their participation in the tech workforce through airasia academy’s #RatuTech campaign.
The #RatuTech programme aims to help females especially from the B40 group to explore careers in technology by reskilling and developing relevant, marketable and in-demand skills such as Digital Marketing, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Cloud Infrastructure and others.
Aireen Omar, President (Ventures) Capital A & Chief Executive Officer of airasia academy said: “We hope that collaboration with major corporate entities like Airbus will allow more underprivileged women the chance to acquire the right skill sets so they, too can compete and contribute in the digital economy.”
Aireen added: “We aim to continuously transform the future of our tech talent pipeline and #RatuTech is a unique outreach programme which explores untapped talents from within the marginalised communities. This way, we can close the gender gap and revolutionise the region’s tech talent engine for IR 4.0.”
Raymond Lim, Airbus Chief Representative for Malaysia said: “Our support of the #RatuTech programme underscores our commitment to social diversity, equal opportunities, and the progression of women in societies across the world. We believe that the programme is a move in the right direction towards the empowerment of women in a technology-driven economy and will contribute to their economic and social development in the long term.”
The latest group of participants sponsored by Airbus are part of the 200 women from varied backgrounds, including SPM leavers, unemployed graduates seeking a career in tech and employed women looking for upskilling or a career change taking digital fundamental courses including Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, Cybersecurity, Cloud Infrastructure and Software Engineering, in hopes of becoming data analysts, digital marketers, cloud experts, and cyber security specialists.
Some of the other sponsors include the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre (SCENIC), Kementerian Sains Teknologi Inovasi Sabah (KSTI) , Google Cloud, Carsome and Yayasan Peneraju.
Launched in 31 March 2022, airasia academy’s #RatuTech campaign is aimed at empowering women to acquire tech skills and inspiring them to realise their pursuit of STEM jobs. The courses offered will be either on a full time or on a part time basis that will take between 3 or 6 months to complete respectively. Graduates will receive accredited, professional certification that will help them gain job opportunities in the tech industry, possibly at one of the sponsoring companies.
