• First batch of 200 students to include B40 women, Huffaz, reformed juvenile offenders and the disabled 

• Targeted training and employment transition to ensure 80% job placement

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 October 2022 - Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju) has teamed up with the region’s fastest growing edutech platform, airasia academy to help stigmatised minorities increase their chances of employability by equipping them with the relevant knowledge and marketable skills in the technology-driven economy.

For a start, 200 selected learners from the B40 communities, fresh graduates, the unemployed and those who lost their jobs for various reasons will participate in the 10-day fully funded training and job placement program sponsored by Yayasan Peneraju with fast track courses or ‘bootcamp’ by airasia academy in Digital Marketing, Software Engineering, Data Analytics and Cloud Infrastructure. 

President (Ventures) Capital A & Chief Executive Officer of airasia academy, Aireen Omar said: “We received overwhelming response from the general public who are keen to pursue a career in technology, but this time around we are focusing on serving the underserved. This is what we stand for in airasia academy, it solidifies our stand in making education in technology more inclusive, accessible and relevant to ensure the nation is fully prepared for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR4.0).”

Strategy and Communications Director of Yayasan Peneraju, Dr Amina Josetta Kayani said: “We’re teaming up with airasia academy to ensure that we level the playing field for those with “special” needs and circumstances, even Huffaz, people with learning disabilities and reformed juvenile offenders. Which is why Yayasan Peneraju is working with airasia academy not just to provide adequate training but also to monitor their progress and guide them all the way to suitable employment opportunities that can help turn their lives around.”

Dr Amina adds: “Once the participants have completed their training, they will undergo the employment transition program which features a workplace simulation exercise to help them assimilate to the working environment and prepare them for their new career in the technology field.”

Besides professional certification, participants of the fully funded, Yayasan Peneraju scholarship program are also entitled to soft skills training, curriculum vitae workshop, sponsored food and accommodations for the duration of the course and complementary 12 months access to airasia academy’s on-demand learning (ODL) platform.

Those who fit the criterias can still submit their applications before 25 October 2022. The programme is open to Bumiputeras regardless of education level, especially women from the B40 group, single parents, freelance workers, small business owners, the disabled, those without formal education, as well as university graduates and the unemployed.
