Unbeatable AirAsia deals await travellers to quarantine-free Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 NOVEMBER 2021 - Following Thailand’s announcement welcoming fully vaccinated visitors from any country without quarantine requirements upon arrival, AirAsia Malaysia (flight code AK) will be resuming flights between Kuala Lumpur and Thailand beginning 5 November 2021.

To kickstart the resumption of quarantine-free travel to Thailand, AirAsia will operate a weekly flight schedule of 4x flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok (2x weekly) and Phuket (2x weekly). More routes will be added and frequencies increased as the travel demand grows in tandem with the reopening of more leisure destinations in the near future, subject to approval from the authorities.

From 1 November until 7 November 2021, guests can book their flights to Bangkok and Phuket from just RM50 one way and travel between 5 November 2021 and 28 February 2022 through the ‘Flights’ icon on the airasia Super App. Guests can secure great value flights+hotel deals through the ‘SNAP’ icon on the Super App starting from just RM239 for travel within the same period. Those who prefer to book their hotels separately may check the ‘Hotels’ icon in the app and book hotels listed under SHA Plus and can get an extra 10% off with the promo code AAHOTEL10.

Fully vaccinated travellers from Malaysia who wish to travel to Thailand must meet the requirements set by the Thai Government prior to purchasing their flights and upon arrival.

Riad Asmat, CEO AirAsia Malaysia said: “We are excited and fully ready for the resumption of flights to Thailand. From an operational standpoint, we have extensively prepared to ensure all of our guests can travel safely, seamlessly and with peace of mind. We have seen an overwhelming response for guests travelling with the Phuket Sandbox programme with over 8 times flight seats sold with strong forward bookings, signaling a strong rebound in leisure travel.

“AirAsia is proud to support the initiative by the Thal government and we look forward to mounting more flights to various destinations in Thailand.

AirAsia guests are always assured of the stringent health and safety protocols enforced on all of our flights with our highly trained and fully vaccinated crew continuing to deliver the world’s best service during the pandemic.”

Mrs Nongyao Jirundorn, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand for Malaysia & Brunei said, “We are indeed delighted and excited about the Thailand reopening today. Since 1st November, Thailand has opened up 17 provinces which include Bangkok, Chiangmai, Huahin, Phuket and Samui, and nearly all businesses and activities are able to resume in the “New Normal” operations. Thailand has also approved a total 63 countries (from the previous 46) eligible for quarantine-free entry to Thailand, and lowering down the Insurance sum of USD 50,000. This easier entry will certainly make Thailand a more exciting destination of choice.

AirAsia has spent the period of downtime in travel over the past 20 months to further improve and revamp its flight procedures and processes. In the highest interest of safety and wellbeing of all its guests and employees, only fully-vaccinated employees will operate flights and be on-duty at airport terminals. Furthermore, AirAsia assures the highest safety standards are in place as part of its robust Covid-19 mitigation plan including by accepting only fully-vaccinated guests onboard, making it mandatory to check-in via the airasia Super App that integrates with vaccination records on MySejahtera, and will soon launch a unique FACES facial recognition boarding system that will make the entire journey fully digital and contactless.

Despite mostly not flying for a good part of the past 20 months, all AirAsia’s aircraft are properly maintained according to procedures set by the manufacturer. AirAsia has set up an in-house maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) unit called Asia Digital Engineering that provides services not only to AirAsia but also other airlines. Likewise, all its pilots and cabin crew are regularly trained for mandatory refresher courses and ongoing retraining so that they are always on top of their job.
