20 Years Soaring: AirAsia celebrates two decades of operations in Singapore

 AirAsia is commemorating the celebration with FREE SEATS*  to destinations in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, and from SGD148** to other destinations in Asia Pacific 

SINGAPORE, 16 February 2024 - AirAsia is commemorating its 20 years of operation in Changi Airport today as the largest foreign airline group in Singapore, with more than one in every eight passengers flying into or from Singapore carried by AirAsia.

In the past two decades, the airline has played a pivotal role in facilitating trade, fostering business links, and boosted the tourism industry between Singapore and other Asean countries. Notably, in destinations like Yogyakarta, AirAsia pioneered the connection, paving the way for enhanced accessibility and economic collaboration. Over the past 6 years, AirAsia has flown over 16 million guests to and from Singapore, and this number continues to grow steadily.

The Lion City is one of the most vital destinations that we consider as a virtual hub, contributing to our passenger load. In fact, the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore route has emerged as the world's busiest international flight path, boasting 4.9 million seats throughout the year. Alongsides Malaysia, Thailand serves as another prominent destination accessible from Singapore, witnessing remarkable growth from 14 weekly flights to Bangkok in 2004 to 28 weekly flights to date. Currently, we operate 12 direct routes from Singapore with a total number of 285 flights weekly. 

“In the near future, we eagerly anticipate expansion to fly more guests to and from Singapore, to further enhance the potential tourism opportunities across the region. To celebrate this significant milestone, AirAsia will be launching FREE SEATS* promotion offering guests with zero base fares from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Hat Yai, Yogyakarta and more. Additionally, guests can also fly from Singapore to medium-haul destinations via Fly-Thru service with all-in** one-way low fares from SGD148 to Tiruchirappalli, Maldives, Jaipur, Chiang Mai, Sydney, Tokyo and others. These promotional fares are available for booking from 19 February 2024 until 25 February 2024, for travel between 1 September 2024 and 18 June 2025.

Furthermore, guests can also enjoy a 20% discount for Fast Pass*** purchases, allowing guests to skip the long immigration queue upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) along with an extra 7kg carry-on baggage allowance onboard. For guests who wish to only add on their carry-on allowance, they can also enjoy a 20% discount on Xtra Carry-On**** during their initial flight booking.

As the largest low-cost carrier operating from the Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4 (T4), an event was created for the airline by Changi Airport Group (CAG) at T4 today, in conjunction with its 20th anniversary celebration.
