Group Chief Executive Officer, AirAsia Aviation Group Limited
Tharumalingam Kanagalingam, known as Bo Lingam, was appointed Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group in 2021, and he brings over two decades of experience through instrumental roles across AirAsia’s operations. As Group CEO, he oversees AirAsia’s five airlines in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia, driving sustainable growth to maintain the low cost carrier model’s effectiveness in a rapidly evolving aviation landscape.
Throughout his tenure at AirAsia, Bo has played a key role in shaping the airline’s strategy and operations, supporting its regional expansion. He has held several leadership roles, including Group President of Airlines, Deputy Group CEO of Airlines, and Group Chief Operating Officer. Before that, he served as Chief of Operations and Planning. Bo began his AirAsia journey as a Ground Operations Manager in 2001, playing an integral part in establishing the airline's operational framework. Prior to AirAsia, Bo spent over a decade in the music industry after starting out in publishing upon completing his schooling.
Under Bo's leadership, AirAsia continues to cement its leadership position in the competitive aviation market by prioritising operational excellence, introducing innovative ancillary solutions, and enhancing customer experiences to address the evolving demands of modern travel, including regional connectivity and personalised, seamless guest journeys.
